Goodbye Limewood, Hello Boston Spa
Since the Club was founded in 2014 we have been called Limewood & Scarcroft Chess Club which was originally set up as a works chess club at energy company Npower who had offices in Scarcroft and at Limewood Approach in Seacroft in Leeds.
Limewood and Scarcroft Chess Club was quite a mouthful, so 'Scarcroft' was often dropped.
Due to our venue change to Boston Spa Village Hall earlier this year, and the fact that none of the 50 club members work at npower (both Scarcroft and Limewood Offices have now closed and Npower was bought out by Eon), we have decided that it would make sense to enter into the next season with a rebranding as Boston Spa Chess Club.
The other bonus would be that people would be able to find it on a map and will put an end to the constant questions of 'Where is Limewood?'
